Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using ShakedownKit ("we," "our," or "us"), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the service.
Description of Service
ShakedownKit is a free gear management platform designed for ultralight backpackers. The service is available as a web application and iOS app, and includes:
- A personal gear library for tracking items, weights, and categories
- Kit creation and management for organizing gear into loadouts
- Pack lists for trip planning with weight tracking and breakdowns
- Public sharing of pack lists via unique links
- LighterPack import to migrate existing gear data
- Guest mode for using the app without creating an account
User Accounts
You may create an account using your email address or through a third-party OAuth provider (Google or Apple). You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account and to keep it up to date.
Guest Mode: ShakedownKit offers a guest mode that stores data locally in your browser using localStorage. No account is required. Guest data remains on your device and is not synced to our servers. Guest data may be lost if you clear your browser data.
User Content & Data
You retain full ownership of the gear data, pack lists, kits, and any other content you create on ShakedownKit. By using the service, you grant ShakedownKit a limited license to host, display, and sync your data solely for the purpose of providing and improving the service.
You may export or delete your data at any time through the app's settings or by contacting us.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Scrape, crawl, or harvest data from ShakedownKit
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the service
- Use automated tools or bots to access the service
- Upload malicious content, viruses, or harmful code
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose
Intellectual Property
The ShakedownKit name, branding, user interface, and underlying code are the property of ShakedownKit. Nothing in these terms grants you any right to use our trademarks or branding.
Your gear data, pack lists, and kits remain your property as described in the User Content & Data section above.
Third-Party Services
ShakedownKit relies on the following third-party services:
- Supabase: Database hosting and authentication infrastructure
- Google/Apple: Optional OAuth sign-in providers
These services are governed by their own terms of service and privacy policies. We encourage you to review them.
Disclaimer of Warranties
ShakedownKit is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. We make no warranty regarding the accuracy or reliability of any data stored on or transmitted through the service.
As a free service, we do not guarantee uptime or permanent data retention. We recommend exporting important data regularly.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ShakedownKit shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, service interruptions, or any gear decisions made based on information within the app.
Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time through the app's settings or by contacting us. Upon termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. We will post the revised terms on this page and update the effective date. Your continued use of ShakedownKit after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
